What shade of tint ?

How do I find out what shade of factory fitted tint my windows are ? Might need to replace the drivers window glass.

Factory fitted would only be the rears - and it’s tinted glass not film

If you have front side tints then they are after market film

You’d likely need to go to one of the places that fits them and ask - there is a device that tests how much light passes through

You're right... my front windows arent tinted. They are lighter than the back ones. They seem to be of brown hue though but that might just be the light. I've noticed a crack in the glass, about half an inch long. Heard a noise the other day like a stone hitting a windscreen but couldn't find a mark. Must have been this.

If the window is properly broken, you can get it done on most insurance policies for a small excess - they treat it the same as a windscreen.

Not sure if that’s a broken enough though......

Then Autoglass would just figure it out.

Looking at the crack on the window, it is likely to continue growing until it reaches the top and/or bottom of the glass. I've had the same from a grasscutter when paused at lights recently.

My insurance covered it for the excess, read your policy and talk to your insurer. My cover includes windscreen, which also covers side and rear glass, (Aviva) and they repalced without question.

Do make sure the repairing company fit the Land Rover marked glass. Plkington's do unbranded, but it would be best to have the branded glass. Similarly, if you have to fit it yourself, make sure the supplier, (breakers etc.) have an LR marked gless. Helps keep it original.

Hope this helps. Cheers
Richard

It would be illegal to have that level of tint on the front windows. BMW i3 Electric Car

Anyone know what level of difficulty changing the glass yourself comes under ? Have had door cards off in past so that’s not a problem. Any special tools needed or other parts other than the glass ?

As far as I can see the window glass should come out fairly easily.

When I did my (11MY) font passenger window, it was card off, loosen the two fixings (front and back clamps) and remove glass. It may have been necessary to remove one trim piece, can't remember. No tools required except the trim removal tools to avoid snapping any clips.
