2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Zambezi Silver

Finally did it!

Well after years of deliberation I finally bought a Full Fat today.

A 2005 (55) Vogue with 98,000 miles on the clock. 3 owners from new and LR Dealership service record up until 2016, then Independent.

Mrs Jim thinks that I am having a midlife crisis (yes..... that is a L494 in the photo) by buying a 14 year old car but there is method to my madness!

I will take some photos in daylight tomorrow.

I always like to work on a clean vehicle so I started with the engine bay whilst I wait for various bits and pieces to arrive in the post

Okay, so been doing a few small jobs whilst waiting for various bits and pieces to turn up.

Most of it is here now and my oldest daughters boyfriend is coming down to help me. He works at a well known Land Rover dealership as a technician / mechanic. It should be interesting to see how he gets on working on a gravel driveway.....😂

Interesting to see what he thinks of the brands of the various items you are using .

ie as compared to the "Original " parts used by dealerships when servicing at a main dealer .

Maybe he could give us his considered view on which bits we should stick to original replacements and which bits the aftermarket brands will suffice in his professional experience ?

Socialrover, he is of the opinion that as long as you service your vehicle on a regular basis it is pretty much six of one and half a dozen of another.

Well very presently surprised to find the gearbox oil nice and fresh, still with a red tinge to it.

The gearbox looks newer than the rest of the car and I took a photo (below) of the ID plate attached to it.

Is there anyway in which I can check the year and history?
