This weekend the WNRO will take place.
Older GPS units, older then 8years, will reset there internal clock en start up again.
The unit than thinks its aug. 1999. That could give a problem whit the communication
whit the satellites. Garmin says position wil stay oke, only time related functions could
be affected.

Are you aware of this? Have a nice weekend......

Apparently, it should have occurred on 6th April (according to info from Tom Tom https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/updates/)
I've not yet checked if my built-in SatNav is still working on our late 2006 car - as I don't trust it to work correctly anyway - lol
If it doesn't work, what options could we have for a software update? Paul,

Having read a bit more about the problem - it's a bit like the year 2000 problem (y2k), it appears Sat Navs launched after 2010 should be designed to cope with the issue & therefore continue working fine.
However older units could go haywire as they use the date to predict where the GPS satellites are & if they use the incorrect date, they miscalculated your location.
Apparently, if there's a problem, the firmware for the device needs updating - if that's feasible on our older dvd based systems.

On Saturday, mine (with the updated BMW MKIV DVD based navigation unit) reported the correct 2019 date, but yesterday had travelled back to August 1999 in the hidden GPS info screen.

I didn’t drive anywhere, but will check today to see if it still tracks my location correctly... fingers crossed! 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDv8
