I know it seems against the grain but I was treated extremely well by this dealership this week. I had my car in for a service and had asked for the upgrade to the 18C software. Initially they said there would be an hours labour cost applied for the upgrade but when I told them it was because the In Control Pro system was unstable, they said it would be free. They carried out a service at less than agreed and installed the upgrade. I did have a problem with the upgrade and a couple of problems followed like no bluetooth and voice control gone but upon calling them directly, I had emailed but it seems the service guy was off sick, I got it booked in within a week and had a loaner to boot. The treatment at the dealership was the best I'd received anywhere for anything. They got me a coffee and biscuits and sorted out for the tech guy to come and see me to discuss the issues. He sat in the car and witnessed the problems first hand and knew straight away what was likely to be the issue. About 3 hours later I received a call to say it was done and was just being cleaned. When I arrived I was asked if I wanted a coffee but asked if they had a cold drink. They gave me a bottle of ice cold mineral water which was much appreciated. The car came out looking like new. I felt they were going to all come out and wave hankies as I left. Pretty damn good service from an LR dealership. All a bit surreal tbh but credit where it's due.

I have heard other decent reports about Lookers Chelmsford - what I would say those qualities do not apply group wide.

Lookers Bishop’s Stortford have returned a car of mine from a service with 6.5 litres of oil in it instead of 9.5 on one occasion, and actually been unable to repair the reversing camera despite having the car in for over a month on another car. They actually damaged the second car whilst they had it in for the camera problem too - and despite employing an independent engineer to verify the damage I still have not got them to agree for repair it yet........ even LR Customer Service could not get much communication with the DP on it.

Chelmsford isn’t that far away and if I hadn’t found another LR workshop closer I would travel there based on your recommendation, and I certainly would not buy my next car from Bishop’s Stortford branch.

I have previously recommended Lookers at chelmsford for servicing. Then shot down. By A N Other Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I took it there partly on MJGH and your (Bill) recommendations and found as stated, excellent customer service and talent. Who could want more?
I also put a substantial deposit on a D5 but had problems at work so pulled the plug. They refunded my deposit in full without argument.

Wish my local Lookers was as good as you all say this one is. What do I put here then?

I bought my 2004 from Chelmsford and all was good. I have a breakdown (something to do with gearbox switch) whislt in Scotland about 6 months later and when I rang them they did all the chasing around to find me a dealer in Scotland who could fix it and lend me a suitable replacement for a couple of days, even got mine collected from where we were staying and dropped off the loan. My car went into Lookers Colchester for its 80K service (the car has only covered 19K). Total cost was a little over £700 inc VAT.

All the usual items were covered and in addition they fitted a new key cover, the rubber, a new full set of wipers (supplied by me) and will be programming my pre heat fob next week all FOC. The usual car wash and vacuum was also included.

All the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Free coffee, cakes etc.

Very happy with the service I received and on this showing am pleased to be able to recommend them.  718 GT4
