L322 non start and codes PO251, PO116

Hi All
I'm having a few problems with my recently acquired 2011 L322 which (among other things I've posted on this forum) is a non runner. I have restricted performance displayed on the dash and the codes 'pending' in the ECU are

PO251 Injector Pump fuel metering Control 'A'
PO116 Engine coolant Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit range / performance

However oddly no confirmed and stored codes (this could be me deleting them, opps)
The car was a stolen recovered and was very low on diesel, showing a range of 30 miles. Therefore I've added some to take it out of the reserve.

Steps taken
- I plugged in my delphi scanner on OBD mode and determined
Fuel pressure - 1690 KPA or 16.9 bar
Coolant temperature reading 215 degrees at cold.

As the fuel pressure seemed low, given the code above and the non start I removed the high pressure pump and sent if off for diagnosis. Today I was told it tested fine, which I'm somewhat surprised about.

I also managed to start the car by cranking and squirting easy start down both intakes. Just enough for it to fire up and then die after stopping, so I certainly have a fuel pressure issue. Also I cracked open one of the unions on the fuel rail and have some fuel present.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

there is usually a metering valve on the fuel pump, this failed on my 2010 D4, unfortunately on that it was part of the pump so it was a whole new pump!! not sure if its a separate item on the 4.4 tho. worth asking for it to be looked at as well.

edit... seems to be a separate item on the 4.4, bolts onto the HP pump, would throw up that fuel metering fault if it was duff I reckon.

part no Thumbs Up LR023169 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

non start

Hi
Thanks for the info. I think this does bolt onto the fuel pump and wonder if having sent the whole unit to a diesel specialist they would have checked this. They have suggested putting the pump back on the car and seeing what happens!! Seems a bit odd

depends whatbthey tested.

if the pump is ok then it might be worth getting this swapped out before refitting the pump There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
