AFS light faults causing christmas tree??

Hi guys, sorry to ask again.. could an AFS lights fault cause a Christmas tree of fault codes and total loss of electrical power to dashboard and radio head unit?
I get a fault that starts with a flashing AFS caption, then all electrical power shuts off to the dash, radio and sunroof and the usual christmas tree of error codes flashes up...
Car then stays in 3rd gear with no up or down shifting available.....
Any ideas???
