Which options couldn’t you live without?

Hello all, I’m currently looking for a late model L322. I’ve looked at a few cars but nothing that quite ticks all the boxes yet. I’m aware of the model differences between Westminster, SE & Autobiography but what I’d like to know is what opinions are worth having in the real world. Specifically things like adaptive cruise & headlights, do the work well or are more trouble than they’re worth? Also the sound systems is the HD noticeably better? In a nut shell, what opinions couldn’t you live without?

Jon

We're all different - that's why they are options I guess.

I think some are a waste of time - like Rear Seat Entertainment - money better spent on iPads IMHO

My wife is a huge fan of cooled seats - but we spend summers in Bordeaux so can appreciate them.

I'd want at least a mid level sound system - on the L405 there are 3 and the basic one is, well, basic IMHO, but the top end one is vv expensive

I love the cooled seats, i couldn't do without adaptive cruise & high beam assist as i like my gadgets... Thumbs Up

I personally thought the extra leather on the doors & roof of the AB was worth searching for on a used one Thumbs Up

The headlining on mine is not as nice as on the 2003 TD6 I had, so a leather AB would be nice.

I like adaptive cruise.

Wish I had the HD hifi, but I’m a bit of a music geek. Standard Logic 7 is fine if you turn the Logic 7 off....

Semi aniline leather doesn’t seem to wear as well as the other seats that have piping on...don’t know what those are called.

For that year, HD sound system, I love adaptive cruise and arse cooling seats. Side steps really do help with little ones and old folk too. Thumbs Up
Great choice too, so you can afford to be picky Thumbs Up

+1 for adaptive cruise. I had adaptive headlights on my 2007 and didn't realise until i was on a narrow back road and 2 months after i got it. Would love surround cameras. Rear entertainment is great for the younger kids imho. Best feature for me is the depolyable side steps Thumbs Up 2015 4.4 AB

my 2010vse has

deployable steps -cool, handy for littleuns and olduns to get in and out but a bit slow if you're fit enough. i had these fitted after purchase and loved them at first but find them a bit of a pain now

surround cameras - also cool but apart from showing them off don't recall ever having found them beneficial

adaptive cruise - great

adaptive lights - pretty common on most cars these days

cooled seats - indespensable!

RSE - outdated and anyone in the back who'se bothered generally has an ipad / tablet which is better anyway. i can only recall back seat passengers watching the telly once and the signal breaks up when there's buildings around

Rolling with laughter I hate the deployable steps

the adaptive cruise is neutral IMHO - it's nice when it works, but sometimes on a motorway bend, thinks a truck in the middle lane is in front of you and slams the anchors on

forgot to mention remote heater - absolutely marvelous but you need a good battery if there's a lot of cold mornings and you only go a couple miles to work. apparently you need AB spec in l405 for this Shocked

AB in L405 for remote heater as standard, but available as an option on all I think

I'm looking for the electric rear seats, HD stereo and deployable steps in my next one. It's taking quite a time to find one (that isn't black exterior/interior)

For me its cooled seats all round, reclining rear seats, surround sound hifi and adaptive lights. On a 405a pano roof is a must and not having InControl Pro, which doesn’t work that well.

for me it is still the rain sensor, old school I know (and probably standard now)

and I am starting to really like the EPB, although I wish it would knock it out of gear as well when applied .

So happy with my optional extras:

A 322 dream list:
- Adaptive cruise
- Surround cameras (occasional use but bloody handy those times you need)
- HD sound (just epic)
- Electric rear seats
- Heat/cooled front and rear seats
- deployable steps
- illuminated tread plates
- Privacy glass (FF's just look weird without)

Don't have but don't miss:
- No RSE, I have an iPad solution which works great.
- No Dualview TV - my wife doesn't want to watch TV while I'm driving
- Am curious as to how the 4-zone climate work, the 3-zone standard isn't much chop.

Would love:
- Some rear tray tables (nice ones)
- On-board espresso (really!)
- A couple of AB trim items:

One thing I look longingly at is the door speaker grilles on an AB. AB's have a silver edge trim which makes them look so much better than standard. Silly I know but I really want AB spec just for that. Also AB's have better little LR badges in the doors. Std ones look a bit plain jane. Come to mention it, I might look on ebay/breakers for some AB door cards....
. Cheers, Greg
