Hi Chris,

13th Generation BMW ULF, part number 84 10 9 154 358 Thumbs Up

I still have my very reliable 6th Generation 84 10 6 955 522 which I only changed to give caller ID on the monitor when paired with an iPhone Wink

When I sell the car I will swap the modules back and sell the 13th gen separately Whistle

Hi both - are you saying that earlier versions of the ULF will work but just not give caller ID for iPhone.?

ps - Would the Digital Hybrid TV tuner be model number 6985342..? Straight swap for an analogue one on a 54 plate ffrr Ash

That TV tuner part number appears to be from a newer 5 series (E60) so NO its wont work Shocked Its been 4 years since I fitted mine so I cannot remember the exact part number but from memory I think its the top one 9 118 577

You need an ibus version from E38 (7 Series), E39 (5 Series), E46 (3 Series) or X5 with the last two being your best bet and the newer the donor vehicle the more likely it is to have had the Hybrid Digital TV Tuner Wink

Here is some info from a BMW forum to help: Thumbs Up

Video Module (TV module) part numbers are of the form 65 50 x xxx xxx.
These units can be installed in I-bus cars such as e38, e39, e46, x5, x3, z4 but NOT I-drive cars such as e65/66, e63/64, e60/61 and e90/91.
The part numbers start with the most recent I have found at the top of the list and the list is broken into 5 sections. I have seen many of these units on ebay and the remaining ones are from the BMW ETK disks.
Section 1 contains the hybrid analog/digital units.

9 118 577
9 112 837
9 126 252
6 126 251
6 988 906

6 966 696
6 966 615 Also used in retrofit kits.

Section 2 and remaining numbers are for analog units.
6 953 002/003
4 124 836
6 946 423
6 945 298 Also used in retrofit kits.

was the new ULF a straight swap,

I need a new ulf as my the quality of the call is crap, i think i had a while back wate in the unit and that has done it in

I can hear them, but they cannot hear me, or with an awfull noise

So your one has past the 100k as well, mine has now 102k and i still love it

Thinking to swap either this or next year for the v8

Assuming you already have a BMW ULF fitted and not the original FFRR factory supplied phone kit then yes an updated ULF is a straight swap. Even though my orginal 6th generation came from my old X5 way back in 2002 it worked perfectly with any phone I paired to it. Most Nokia's even had SMS messages displaying on the monitor. It was only when I jumped ship to an iPhone 3GS 18 months ago that I lost caller ID, apart from that the system again worke perfectly. The only version that will give caller ID when paired to an iPhone is version 13.

If you are not using an iPhone then I would suggest any ULF from version 6 upwards should be fine and if you do have an iPhone and are not bothered about caller ID on the monitor then the same would apply Thumbs Up

For me I am patiently waiting for the right car to turn up.............

57/08 TDV8 Vogue SE, Stornaway Grey, Ivory Leather, Black Wood, Factory Privacy Glass & RSE are a must with tow bar and side steps a bonus! No rush though......well by August hopefully Wink
