body control unit issue any wiring guru's can help please? | |
Hi guys and girls im new to the forum and have recently purchased a 2007 vogue 4.2 sc and after some assistance regarding the body control unit.
please bare with me as im new to range rovers
since owning the vehicle some weeks now I've really only driven it during the day so far until the other night i got in the vehicle and i noticed the interior lights didn't come on until the ignition had come on.
now i did a little research and that's where things got interesting
firstly i went to the fuse box to check the fuses and to my surprise there has been a fused wire added to a spare slot on the fuse box if i remove this wire while ignition is on the interior lights go out and a suspension fault comes up on the dash if i refit the wire the interior lights come back on and all faults disappear...
so at this point im guessing this wire is something to do with the bcm unit
I started looking through the paperwork i received with the car and tucked away in some invoices was one from a garage who has done a bcm modification. i decided to call the garage and asked what was done i was told that one of the owners before me had taken the car to them with some issues regarding the bcm, i was told the problem was the body control unit had lost its power and to get around it they had wired the bcm from a ignition live feed from the control panel (which is the wire added)to see time and costs for the other owner.
Now this wouldn't be a issue usually because everything works great and ive had no other problems expect the interior lights work via that bcm and they also don't work until the ignition is on!!
now my question to you guys is, is there a way i can move this added wire from the fuse box and make it find a live from another source that gets power when the doors unlock possible from the fuse box again, the stereo powers up and screen shows land rover when the vehicle is unlocked or a door is opened, im not suggesting to power it off the stereo circuit but is there any other options or even wire it from the battery with switched relay or something
i would really appreciate any help regarding this as i absolutely love the car
thank you http://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/albums/us...G_3266.JPG
