ZF5Hp 24 transmission issues in 2002 4.4 V8

So slight wobble when pulling away gently, like the transmission is missing the gear 1 to 2 or the engine is stalling. Tends to happen when it’s cold.

Also on a steep incline it will slip into neutral and I’ll have to roll back down to the flat to find a gear then arrack the incline with speed.

Could this be low oil??

That would be my first guess given what you describe. It’s also the easiest first step in the diagnosis/rectification process.

Do you know if the vehicle has ever had its transmission fluid changed? If not, then given the age and likely mileage, I’d get the oil and filter changed. 2006MY 4.2 SC
