United Kingdom 2014 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Causeway Grey
Black Styling Pack....

I've just purchased an approved used 2014 AB in Causeway Grey and want to change out the chrome for Black

After a lot of reading and video watching it seems I have a bunch of options available to me

1) Have the trim painted Black
2) Have the trim wrapped Black
3) Buy OEM Black trim off ebay and swop it out
4) Buy None OEM kit of all parts and replace

I have prices of £250 for Painting, £600 for Wrapping and £500 for the Non OEM kit

Which would you guys do ?

BTW I should mention that I'm happy to take all the trim off my self thanks to some excellent videos on you tube

Thanks

Si

I'd paint them Thumbs Up

Ion fact, I'd probably try to buy th old set from VeryDisco, have them painted then just swap over.

Thanks Alistar

Seems the cheapest option and keeps them OEM

I have the exact same car in Causeway and also changed all the trim to black - I bought the non-oem kit (Hawke) for around £400 inc. the front grille and once swapped over, sold the genuine trim for £220 on ebay, so cost to change ended up being £180.

The fit and finish of the Hawke kit is excellent in my view.

The hardest parts to fit were the 2x large front door panels, suggest buying some genuine clips and new 3m double sided trim tape in advance.

Causeway + black pack looks good in my opinion!

Thanks JCW

You have to share a load of pictures with me now lol

Where do I buy that Kit ?

Did you change the air intake grills in the bumper as I understand the only way to change them is to take off the bumper

Thanks

Si

I bought the kit here http://shop.sixonetwo.co.uk/range-rover-l405-body-kits.html

No photo's to hand but I'll take some over the next day or so & post them.

Good point re the bumper grilles, it does require bumper removal & I've still got those sat in the box, to be honest the original dark atlas grilles I have fitted look ok and break up the black look a little. I may swap them over when the weather gets warmer though.

Thanks, I shall look forward to pics

Do you have an AB so chrome/body coloured handles and did you do anything with them ?

What wheels are you rocking ? We are thinking of getting the 22 turbines and changing them to black but I’m not sure if that’s too much black

Final question , I assume you changed the letters front and back as well ?
Si

I've left the AB handles as they are for now (although if a set of full body colour come up for a reasonable price I'll change them over, its easy on the L405 and I prefer the non-chrome look). I've changed the 22" turbines I had to 2018 MY SVA wheels, the turbines needed refurbishing / new tyres and the AB's were brand new take-off's. Sold the turbines and only a few hundred quid net difference.

Another option for the bumper grills is wrapping - that's what Frank did

I’m struggling to find anyone to wrap locally that doesn’t want to charge twice as much as the people who will paint so not sure I can see the value

I’m torn between the kit JCW mentions and painting

I’ve an appointment with 2 local body shops over the weekend so I guess i’ll see what they say

Thanks guys for your help 👍🏻

Si

I also bought the kit from six one two and changed everything except front bumper grills
Echo the comment on the large gills on the front doors. Difficult to fit and require new clips.

I am happy with the sixonetwo kit and they give a forum discount if you ask nicely.

Re badges I went for chrome edged black infill version because it is possible to go “too black” imho and the badges satisfied my desire to break it up just a little bit.

Buy the kit and you can always change the car back for sale or sell the original kit if you want.

Hope that helps 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ
