I have installed one of the Android head units from Hong Kong in my 2016 Autobiography and couldn't be more pleased. I only use it for CarPlay via a wired CarPlay adapter and don't use any of the Apps on the head unit itself. It works brilliantly. I finally had enough of the original Sat Nav, as in the winter it took me down some narrow lanes rather than the perfectly good A roads more than once. Spotify is great to have, and the choice of Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze is as good as it gets I reckon. It's way, way easier to use on the move, the CarPlay buttons on the screen are nice and big! I use BBC Sounds app to listen to the radio with the added benefit of being able to see what's playing and a nice picture to go with! The install is quite involved and I really think you need to be confident in taking things apart to do it yourself otherwise try an installer. There are good install videos on YouTube but are now slightly out of date as part of the loom has changed - you don't need to attach the left hand sensor pack any more but other than that fairly straightforward. I messed up the software on the first unit I had (my fault, too clever by half) but the customer service from Andy at Canavie was excellent. They swapped out a unit for me with no hesitation. Very impressive. Here's a link if anyone is interested -

I've recently fitted Navitool Carplay/Android Auto to my L322 5.0 and have to say it's very impressive and the customer support is very impressive despite them being based in Melbourne Australia! If anyone if interested drop me a PM and I can put you in touch with the guy I dealt with for a discount - they have a range of versions which covers most RR's including the L405. |
