Screen update from MY14 to MY17

Afternoon guys,

After 14 years away from the fold (previously had a S/C RRS in 2005) I've put a deposit down on a 2014 FFRR 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography with most of the toys!

Having looked through some adverts on autotrader it looks like the 17 onwards cars have the newer touch screen panel rather than the older one on my car.

Is there a known route to upgrade to this? Is it worthwhile doing it?

I don't pick the car up for a couple of weeks due to a holiday but suspect it'll still have the original maps and software on it from new.

If it's not possible is there a latest update available (which wont break things) that can be bought or installed?

Many thanks and good to be back, for now!

Rick.

The only way to have the larger screen is to buy the 17MY sir...

I'm not 100% certain but the 14MY has either have a USB or a plug to update the software??? Maybe someone has done this? I haven't as yet... Neutral

I've not got around to it yet, but you can order a sat nav maps upgrade & load it through the USB - you need to provide a chassis number & the upgrade is locked to that car.

Don't expect bang up to date maps though - they are not updated that often and out of date before they are even released.

Great thanks for the replies guys - as I suspected!

The MY17 is out of my price range at the moment but maybe next time Smile

I've seen the LR site with the USB map upgrade and another seller on the bay who does them too; so might go down that route.

Many thanks again!

I've just updated the maps on my 2014 L405 yesterday via a usb drive in the cubby box slot. Took about 3 hours all in and any update was good as it has the original maps from when it was new. Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

Hi all, I've now got the car and it's actually a MY15 not a MY14.

I take it that there's no difference between the two and the screen still can't be upgraded?

Be careful with the eBay stuff as it's unlicensed and can be loads of grief. My mate updated the disc in his D4 and it slaughtered his DVD drive. Much better to get the real thing and have some redress if it goes bits up!

I have seen videos on YouTube of Americans putting 2017 software onto the 2013 cars... the smaller screen ones like I have. No idea how it's done mind. Also my L322 used to have a screen saver in the instrument cluster, but my L405 does not... any ideas?

My system looks the same (hardware wize) but as for the nav menu and function... Very different, mine is s 2014 early one, the one in the video looks the same?
