Dog ramp...?

Hi All, wife and I have now taken delivery of our new fullfat.

I have noticed it's going to be a slightly different experience for our 3 dogs to 'jump' in the back (and out again) compared to the RRS we had previously.

Dogs are getting older now and I had thought of getting a ramp.

Anyone else with 4-legged friends use a ramp and if so, which? and what's it like to use (heavy? how big when folded up for storing?).

Thanks in advance

Tom

Pets@home or whatever they are called nowadays do a Cooper Dog Ramp that has a picture of it in use in an L322. I think it would fit nicely in the right hand recess.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Nick - when you've let the old girl use the ramp to get in...where do you stow the ramp?

I'm more than happy to drop car height and to do the odd bit of doggy lifting, but less practical when they're soaking....

you better not let her hear you calling her 'the old girl' Rolling with laughter

she was most indigent when we went to the vets for a health check and she heard it being described as a 'geriatric health check' Sad

her ladyship sits in the passenger seat Smile a la HRH the Queen!

so the ramp goes in the boot - its certainly small enough folded to fit in the boot with the dogs - maybe a bungee cord to hold it against the rear seats?

Might be that we'll sack off the idea of using the FFRR for the dogs and just use the Defender for dog transporting duty. Smile

IF IT EVER GETS REPAIRED AND UP AND RUNNING AGAIN PROPERLY! *SIGH* Sad

No need for a ramp. I have a large dog as well and lift her front legs first, put them on the rear shelf, then lift her back and in she goes, easy really.

It's a nice idea, but two of my three (despite getting on a little now, 9 and 10.5 yrs old) will just hurl themselves at it.

The lurcher will just sit there and and look regal until I lift her in, ramp or no ramp Smile

My old Weimaraner wouldn't have any of it with a ramp (tried it on a trooper I had) .....put the ramp up, being kind and thinking he'd much prefer it to the usual lift in and what does he do.... Bloody launches himself at the gap in the boot, like he was 4 again, then looks round with the embarrassed look he used to get as if to say, ok then I'm getting a bit past this so give me a hand..

He never would use that even up to the day before he died, much preferred to launch at the back and end up front in....& he was 16!!
