Low Key Fob Warning. Both keys. Changed batteries too...

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has had this issue before. I have searched, but not found anything really conclusive other than the fact that the fobs seem to be fussy about batteries (they like Duracells?)

This thread was useful but nothing in it solved my problem:
https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic37142...attery+low

My 4.4 TDV8 started displaying this message on Friday. When I got home, I tried the other fob - same message. Now, is it really likely that the batteries in both fobs would die at exactly the same time? Anyway, I changed the batteries in both as I had some already. Same message.

I checked all the voltages on the batteries. The ones coming out were ok (2.9v) and the ones going in were 3.2V or thereabouts. They were Maxell batteries, but I can't realty see why that should cause a problem.

I've tried (I think) the 'two smart key authentications' as suggested in the thread above by locking and unlocking the vehicle multiple times with each fob and the message is still there.

Not sure what to try next. Thoughts anyone? 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Hi Stan,

Well, it's had a couple of overnight sleeps...

I've ordered some duracells, but I really don't see that this can be the problem. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

i've 'tried' to use the cheaper poundland type cells before in a lot of things and they dont have the power they should have...duracells are like OE brake pads, they work properly Mr. Green

I had exactly this same problem back in November whilst away from home at my son’s wedding.I will find my post on the subject and add, but the bottom line outcome was to change the batteries in both fobs for Duracell types.
All has been fine since.

Thanks all.

OK, I'll wait for the Duracells to arrive and try again. The ones I've used are Maxell though so I thought they would have been ok.

It still seems odd that both fobs should die at the same time though, especially as the voltages of the existing batteries seem to be within limits. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Ah, just seen your thread Mike. Thanks for that.

Sounds like your issue was exactly the same as mine so I'll wait and see what happens when the Duracells arrive.

Thanks all. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

I just put it down to battery age.
They were both fitted on the same day a couple of years ago, so ??

Just for interest, we had a set of “candle” Christmas decorations that use CR2032 batteries, so I fitted the Maxcells that wouldn’t work in the key fobs just to see how long they lasted.
Answer all the time they were in use until new year. ??

Just to close this off, I've fitted Duracells and the error has gone. Very strange!

Thanks again for all the advice. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE
