Headlights

Guys,

One hopes Santa has been kind to you all Very Happy

2014 L405 AB sc

I am finding drivers are flashing or going to high beam at night when I have my dipped headlights on. I have checked the manual (no adjustment other than L or R for adaptive in menu and set on L) and I carry no weight in the car. I appreciate we are higher on the road compared to cars.

This is my first winter, night driving, with my ( new to me) L405 and I did not have same issue on my previous L322. The lights are far superior to my previous RR and throw a wider, longer, brighter pattern.

On level ground the car seems to look from the side visually slightly higher at the front than rear but on checking the ride heights in normal mode they are stock per LR.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue or TADTS?

HNY!

Not had a problem with mine

Do you have MOTs over there ? The lights will be checked as part of that and would tell you if they are misaligned, so any place that does an MOT can check them.

i have read that some members say the L405 headlights are not very good so its possible that the previous owner has manually adjusted the lights 'upwards' so they illuminate the road a bit more...
do as Alistair suggests and get them checked.

@ Alastair - no MOT here but cars have to meet equivalent standards as the UK bar the emissions test. I’ll get the dealer to check it as she is going in for some other bits in a few weeks time.

@ Stan - yes, sounds the way forward.

Thanks both. Thumbs Up

HNY!

Andy

Ive never driven a ‘322, so I can’t compare, but the headlights on my own L405 are at least as good as the very best headlights that I’ve had before Thumbs Up

What I do find is that if I’m approaching the crown of a hill and someone’s coming the other way, they often get the full affect of the dipped dean and I often get flashed as they must be assuming that I’m on main beam.

As much as it pains me to say it, but yes the headlights in the last of the 322’s were better - but then the surface area of the lights was far greater and far less streamlined 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Agreed my 2011 L322 headlights were epic, the L405 ones are merely good 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ

Think we have had that question before and I agree, but short of waiting for Craig to finalise his upgrade there does not seem to be an answer. letters not necessarily in the right order

These may help... Took some pics of the rear of one i have on the shelf today and there are clearly two adjusters... So, one for Left & Right and the other for Up & Down...

I would guess the lower one does the Up & Down movement... Neutral

Hope they help Thumbs Up

ah my bad..i looked on the L494 workshop manual and it only showed the horizontal adjustment and i thought the self levelling would take care of the vertical adjustment.....
