My first 4.4 TDV8 oil change

Hi all
I am going to do an oil change on my 2012 TDV8 tomorrow, just received a 36mm socket for the oil filter cover.
So, and please correct me if I am wrong;
Take her for a spin around the block, to get engine up to operating temperature.
Get her in the garage, loosen oil filter cover, to allow oil to drain back into sump.
Connect my slightly modified lidl oil pump ( hoses supplied do not fit in or over suction pipe on car)
Pump oil out, hopefully about 9 litres, meanwhile change filter and o ring, once no more oil is coming out, re- fill with approx. 8 litres of new oil, fire her up for approx. 5 minutes, to allow for filter to re-fill etc.
Leave for 10- 15 minutes, and check level on dash read-out, top up if necessary, take for a spin around the block again.
Leave overnight, to make sure everything is stone cold, check level on dash again, top up if necessary, ( 1 bar above Center)
Is this the correct procedure?

Next question, I have new front discs and pads, (pagid), can anyone tell me socket size to undo the callipers, Or is it a special tool required, it was a simple job on my 3.6.

Would really appreciate any advice, as I don’t want to “cock up” a simple job.
Hate cars without dipsticks!

Stan
Why are there no pictures anymore?
A picture tells a thousand words, is:it because of money?
I, for one, would gladly donate some money each year, to keep pictures on the server.
To me, it’s a “no brainer “ to have this imfoormation available to everyone.

I am enjoying a few days away this week, so from memory, you seem to have prepared well.
I have never done an easier, cleaner , quicker oil change on any car I have owned before my 4.4 tdV8.
You will need 2, preferably 3 empty 5 litre containers. I would be swapping the pipe from one to the next when it gets to the 3/4 full point because it comes out fairly fast when nice and warm.,
Don’t put any more than 8 litres of new oil in.
Give it a run for a couple of minutes to fill the new filter , then let it settle and top it up a cup full at a time to get a reading over half full, .
It is much easier to add another cup full the next day than find you have overfilled it and have to suck some out
Cheers
Mike.
PS.
You can keep re-setting the oil level indicator by pressing the cruise control reset button to save a lot of time between readings, but only whilst you have the bonnet lid open. G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999

SFM,
in time when doing brake discs and pads would be a good opportunity to flash brake fluid. it is eazy one man job using vacuum pump :

Well, that didn’t go well!
Pumped oil out, removed filter (luckily I did not throw it in the bin)
Went to fit new filter and it’s totoall different, doesn’t even fit inside housing.
I ordered this from ECP, for my year and Reg number, the original filter clips into the oil housing, and screw the housing, complete with filter back in place.
Anyway, I have had to re-use old filter for now, not good I know.
What is the correct filter for this car?
They sent me a Mann filter HU8008z
Car is January 2012 4.4tdv8 Firenze red
Please advise, so as I can get the correct one ordered ASAP

Steve

I usually order a service kit from Opie Oils, which comprises of 2 x Shell AFL 5 litres plus the filter.
They give 10% discount to forum members and free UK postage to your door. About £80. inc VAT.
Not sure if they post to France though., but worth checking.
