Seat Squab Swap-over

2010 VSE - with heated / cooled seats

anyone know if its possible to swap left side and right side front seat squabs?

the right side vertical edge of the driver's seat gets worn (on a RHD car) whereas the left seat squab wil be perfect. are the squabs interchangeable to hide this problem?

If your good you can do them on the bench in about 30mins... Change the sponge inner too as that degrades too Thumbs Up

BEWARE, the passenger seat has a weight sensor thats quite delicate!

You can do it without removing the seats having just removed my drivers squab yesterday with the seat still in.

Loosen rear seat bolt nearest rear door. Loosen a fair bit as this allows you to tilt the seat back in a bit.

Remove the other three bolts.

Check very carefully you have slack in the cables under the seat. You will, but check no snags.
Please note the seat back (upright) has an airbag so you do not want to unplug the connectors unless you do a full battery disconnect (and leave for 30mins).

Removing the three of four bolts allows you to swivel the seat and remove the plastic cover over the seat belt receiver.

Swivel seat back into normal position.

Remove whole side/switch panel outer and inner:

For the outer there are two screws along the bottom edge, now that you can tilt the seat you can get them off with a torx driver bit. (the kind you would put in a drill).
Next unclip at either end first, then there are three bullet clips I'd call them that need to be pulled off, pull away from the car.

For the inner, there are several torx screws.

Then you can unclip the leather, work your way around.
Be careful with your hands as the metal seat edges are very sharp.

Massive timesavers:
The seat back cover didn't have to be removed.
The seat(s) stayed in the car.

You may want to check the state of the ducting for the heat/cool, see:

Take pics!
