GM Box question

Merry Christmas from a new member. I am currently restoring an 04 td6 and am having some strange behavior from the transmission.

It works perfect in drive, goes through all the gears 100% with no issue both hot and cold but when I try reversing that’s a compleat other issue in its self.

The car will go into reverse but not move unless you rev up to 1500/2000 as soon as you drop the revs that car stops almost as if you stood on the brakes.

Also if you put it into neutral the car will move forward.

While I know the boxes are made of chees but have not found some one with similar faults.

Thanks

Have a look at the connecting rod on the right hand side of the gearbox (from the lever) - may need greasing/releasing

Check gearbox fluid level

Otherwise, maybe RRPhil can advise on it being something more drastic! .

Thanks for the reply! Tried adjusting the cable but no luck as it did not make a difference (would not select anything) Fluid level seems to be correct.

Honestly a bit lost at the moment.
