Breakdown insurance

Am reviewing policies due for renewal in the new year.

The old LR assist used to be great. But tales suggest the service from the AA is not what it was, and is expensive to boot.
Am currently with National Plus. Haven’t needed to call them out so cannot comment on the service.

Any recommendations from forum members?

I am also thinking of moving away from a car specified policy to being person specified, so I am covered whatever car I am in, or whether I am driving other vehicles I own.

I’m with AA with personal cover. Only used them once in 6 years I think. Got a feeling I pay about £70 a year. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I have a no frills, 25 miles radius from home, cover on all my vehicles (6 vehicles,4 drivers), regardless of driver, fix car or recover to wherever I say (pay excess over 25 miles) from Emergency Assist. Had to use once, excellent no quibble service (used once, for recovery on a dead gearbox - Audi CVT). Cost @ £60 per annum. Gives piece of mind to family. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink
