Hoping someone might be able to help, please.

My air conditioning gradually lost its effectiveness over a couple of weeks.

I’ve had the system checked and there are no leaks.

My IID tool shows HP pressure between 11 and 13 bar. Usually stable between those pressures, so I’m guessing the variation is just dependant on ambient temperature as I’ve been checking at different times of the day.

I did notice a slight increase in HP when I pressed the “program” button.

Also little change in pressure when I stop the engine.

I can visually see the compressor clutching in and out when switching the AC on/off.

Sooooo, finally the question......

Is the compressor kaput? Seems to me that the swash control has failed.

Just would like a few opinions before I throw parts at the car. 2007 3.6 TDV8

Mate how did you go with the AC - seems i am having similar trouble down here in NSW...

Replaced the compressor in the end. Got a rebuilt one from Duckworths.

There is a solenoid inside the compressor that controls its loading and this is what fails.

I still have the old compressor (supposed to send it back for core refund, but haven’t gotten around to it) and it can be repaired with a new solenoid, which I’m fairly confident is this one
