The drivers door is closed and I can not get it open.
When the central door locking is activated there is the clunk when locking and unlocking as usual. The button raises and lowers.The inside handle will raise the button also. Both door handles won't then open the door.
I have prised the door card off and removed the airbag which gives a view of the lock.
Both door handle wires are intact, the outside handle wire pulls the mechanism ok but the mechanism fails to spring back as it should, when the mechanism is manually pushed back it makes no difference.
So I think it is safe to say the lock has broken in the locked position.
When the latch completely failed on the passenger door the Dealers smashed to lock off as they say there is no other way to get the door open !!

Has anyone any experiance of this or a detailed guide of how to smash the lock ? The rest I can replace no problem if the door is open. I am just concerned about doing any damage over and above what is needed.

havnt done the door lock smash , but can you fiddle a screwdriver in the lock to see if the lock releases... ... - .- -.

Although the door card is off at the top I havn't yet removed it completley so access is a little limited to the latch area. I have had a good poke about but what ever I do it seems to make no difference.
I have tried using the key but no luck that way either.

certainly sounds like the lock itself is knackered ...hope you find an answer for this problem... ... - .- -.

No chance something is trapped in the door jamb? A bit of the setbelt? I had this, neither handle releasing.
The belt had stuck in the jamb and somebody slammed the door hard. I thought the cable had snapped when I first came to open it.
Solved it by lying across the seats and forcing the door open with me feet whilst missus held the outside handle open, the door was stuck solid then popped open like a cork out of a bottle. Just a thought...
