What speed motorway?

Ok guys, what speed do you do once you hit the motorway (or any national speed limit D.C.W.)?

What about average speed cameras? Have they slowed you down?

I push as far into the "10% zone" as I dare.

But it's risky doing 77 no? (don't want to get ticketed with so many cameras).

Who's been ticketed at 80?

What about a blast to 'clear her throat'? When's safe?

. Cheers, Greg

Not that long ago you were fairly safe if you stayed below 85 but as you say, cameras all over now.

I tend to have a squirt on a dual carriageway now.

If I see speed cameras on motorway I keep to limit. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Fines tend to be applied at speed limit + 10% + 2mph.

Thus on a 60 mph limit road, you can do up to 68 mph without too much fear. However I got done at 69 and the cop said I would have been fine at 68 but they had to prosecute at 69, despite the road conditions being clear of traffic, weather fine etc.

However some police. Forces are now employing a lower tolerance I.e in a 30 mph they will do you at 34 mph.

Lincolnshire has no such tolerance, the speed limit is exactly that, 1mph over and you get a ticket. My other half last year got 32mph ticket in a 30, did a speed awareness course. Not good for public perception of the police.

The police used to use our premises for surveilance, we left the heating on all night, left them tea / coffee etc, not any more now, my Mrs told them to get lost, oops, that all worked out well. BMW i3 Electric Car

Does your vision not blur at 80mph?

My local constabulary tweets “speed kills”.
Argued with them they were talking nonsense.
Otherwise speed limits on motorways would be far far lower.
Asked the question “so at what speed does it not kill?”
5 mph with someone walking in front waving a red flag?

No comment when not with the caravan - however with the 'van on, 56 to 60 religiously. In fact we tend to find something like an Eddie Stobart and stick behind it.

Stick to the speed limit, better late than dead.

Just can't be arsed to fight in the fast lane anymore

Everyone overestimates their ability to stop

In heavy traffic / queues, 90 times out of 100 you get there just as quickly in Lane 1 .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Wales

North Wales operates a zero tolerance on speeding.
I've been booked 3 times, 2x 31mph in 30 zoned and a 51 in a 50 dual carriage way.

Hasn't stopped me speeding though Whistle Remember:- amateurs built the ark

I tend to stick to 75 on the motorway as i don't need to concentrate on where plod is hiding! That said, it depends how empty the motorway is? And which car I'm driving too... Thumbs Up
