There was a setting on my Rovacom for Canadian light settings. But with that enabled, it ran the headlights on mine all the time ( wearing out the HID bulbs in the process). V8 or else ...

On mine, the inner halogen H7 bulbs are my Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and are on when the light switch is in the 0 (exterior lamps off) setting. All other exterior lights are off.

When I switch the dial to 1 (side lamps on), the LED angel eye halos along with the side markers, rear lights and instrument panel all light up as well.

When I switch the dial to 2 (headlamps on), the halogens turn off and the Xenon HIDs turn on. Everything else from dial setting 1 remains on.

you might have an aftermarket drl switch fitted for the halogens [main beam] to come on when the engine is running and the light switch is off...


btw ,can you fill in your car profile so w know what model/year you have...

Pictures of the plugs as promised sir... you will see there are two plugs with just black wires that go to the two separate rings in your lights... Easily pulled off with long nosed pliers...

Update: So I had some time to remove one of my headlight assemblies this afternoon. Using Craig's photo above as reference, I peered inside the housing, only to come to realize...that it is extremely cramped in there! It was quite difficult trying to locate/trace wires through the few small openings that are available.

I think I was able to find the connector for the halo around the Xenon HID light:

Pic no 2 shows the plug for the smaller ring around the halogen light... If you click on it, it will allow you to zoom in...

Follow the black wires back and they will show you the second plug on the ring around the xenon light sir...

Would you recommend going through the larger opening of the Xenon light to access the connector around the halogen light? Frustratingly I don't feel there is much access or clearance to anything at all through the smaller opening of the halogen light. 2010 RR SC

Just another thought, Craig, what do you think about simply cutting the wire going into either pin 1 or pin 4 (associated with the side lights and halos) at the 16-pin loom? 2010 RR SC

Not a fan of cutting wires! especially when there is a far better way imho...

Get some long reach pliers and unplug them... I think the smaller plug is better accessed through the smaller hole...

so now what happens when you put your side lights on ?

So here are how my lights are now operating. Keep in mind I am in Canada and my DRLs had been previously set up a certain way where the halo lights were never used as DRLs in the first place (by the previous owner).

Setting 0: Halogen lights on as DRL.
Setting 1: Like setting 0 but with side marker, tail light and instrument panel on.
Setting 2: Like setting 1 but halogen lights turn off and Xenon lights turn on.
Setting 3: Auto lights

Stan, don't forget the OP is in Canada and they run 24hrs a day 22w DRL's... Meaning the high beam halogens are illuminated to 40% brightness...

Technically when parked there will be no forward facing side lights but, once again the car is Canadian so will have the amber side markers illuminated at that point which are kind of visible from the front too
