Couldn't see a need for it when removing the sump plug on a td6 is so easy, you hardly need to reach under the front to access it. I must admit I prefer to be sure all the old oil is out. |

As per NDFI, just warm it up and undo the sump plug and allow to drain for an hour .

Like others, I could not see the point but having used a vacuum evacuator on another car and reading that dealers regularly do the same I gave it a go on my TD6. Straight into my garage from a 20min drive, bonnet up, tube in dipstick tube and out the old oil came. Cup of tea, changed the oil filter by this time no more oil coming out. Just to check I removed the sump plug and just a few drips. My evacuator is 9 ltrs and it was very close to full so I am confident it got all the oil out. I have since done it 2 more times, once warm and the other hot. It needs to be hot or it takes forever.

That makes so much sense, pump the oil out from the top and then remove the sump plug to get the last of the oil out.

The ebay link to the 9ltr one looks exactly like mine. For the price its a good bit of kit. I have had it full of old oil and transported it upright with no spills. To empty pull the bung from the top where the vac lines enter and you have a well-shaped pouring spout. The only thing which you might want to pay more for is the ability to pump the oil out via the tube, this I have seen on more expensive types. 2007 TDV8 VSE

for anybody doing this make sure you have a couple 5 litre or similar old oil containers-put old oil in them and take to tip/give to somebody with a waste oil heater etc-you only need one if changing oil in a small car |

If you are handy type, make one for yourself for next to nothing. |
