50% whisky and 50% water at room temperature.....no ice

This is what a whisky blender told me. Apparently if you take it straight or with ice you don't get the full flavour, the first sip will anaesthetise your palate and the rest you wont taste. Mixing with room temperature water reduces this from happening and allows the flavours to 'melt' on the tastebuds Shocked

All very good advise although the amount of water within reason is a personal tastebut most importantly never tap water , the phenols in the whiskey react with the chlorine in the water and you basically get TCP even if you are not drinking an Islay. 2008 MY Supercharged

Had some local Islay Whisky while staying on the Isle of Erisca, I had to drink it with my eye's closed as the fumes were so strong Laughing 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

That's Highland Spring Water.............. actually it comes from a spring a little further south. I live near the Carron Valley Reservoir in Central Scotland and the water from that is "free" from my kitchen/bathroom taps and in the toilet but silly folks in the sarf pay about £3 a litre for it from Waitrose as it is also sold as their "premium" spring water! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

i was not adverse to River Tay water in my whisky

though not too soon after a spate when we had sheep/cow bodies floating downstream Laughing

we used to fish a lot on the west coast (Dionard and Laxford) but the water was a bit 'peaty' to say the least!
