Just to show that it's not only our Fatties that occasionally like to lunch on a turbo.
At the end of last week SWMBO's Mazda CX-5's turbo failed while on the school run, and at just under 4 yrs old with 78k miles. Luckily nothing entered the engine and the rivet that failed has been located and retrieved. This was supposed to be our reliable car!
The dealer quoted £2,200 to replace , so I started ringing around independents to get a more favourable figure. However much to my suprise (and relief) Mazda UK have agreed to pick 100% of the replacement cost, despite it being 10 months out of warranty. Result! . If only all manufactures were so enlightened and quick off the mark.
The only downside is that SWMBO is going to be using the FFRR on and off for the next week.... fingers crossed it holds together while she's driving. David
