2011 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Stornoway Grey
4.4 tdv8 Brakes (big brembo's)

What's everyone running for discs and pads?

It's time for replacements on my recent acquisition, so trying to sort the wheat from the chaff in terms of OEM/aftermarket quality and options. I need rears and the handbrake shoes (plus fitting kit as the sundries are past their best) but gonna order a full set as the fronts will be needed next year - may as well just bite the bullet and do the lot in one go

Recommendations and or ones to steer clear of very welcome.........

Cheers 2011 Vogue SE Tdv8 FFRR

A Trap

I went with oem manufacturer DELPHI for pads and discs alround and am very happy with quality and performance.

I used Rimmer brothers but have also used LR parts, both have been great to deal with.

Note LAnd Rover use all the main manufacturers of brake pads as OEM. 👍

These are what I got for my 2012 4.4TDV8 recently:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/range-rover-4-4...2749.l2649

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRW-Rear-Brake-...2749.l2649

Got them fitted by my indy garage, along with new brake lines (front to rear) and a couple of new flexi hoses.
Haven't had any problems with them.

MaltingsOffroad also do vented and drilled discs too. Thumbs Up

I'm currently running Brembo front pads, with Borg & Beck front discs - all from Advanced Factors.

Very good set-up, great bight, feel and great stopping power. But still with the 'rumble' noise that the Brembo pads seem to give when hot.

I have always bought Brembo discs for all my vehicles, but wanted to try the Borg & Beck ones as they have such a good name. No issues so far, in fact very pleased with the discs and they looked well made (i.e. clean castings in the vents).

I also wanted to try the Borg & Beck pads, but they weren't in stock, so Advanced Factors sent me the Brembo ones for the same price (which is fantastic service - thanks guys Thumbs Up ) So will try out the B&B pads next time!

Thanks all. Got some brembo discs and Ferodo pads on the way, I won't order brembo pads any more due to the licensing issue and the fact you never know what you're getting - too much of a lottery and I've always had good experiences with Ferodo so I'll trust them in the FF

Just need a dry day now, which is much harder to order Laughing 2011 Vogue SE Tdv8 FFRR

There is no Brembo licensing issue - the don’t license their brand name.

Very sceptical on that I'm afraid. Not saying all brembo pads are rubbish, far from it. My issue is that there is a spread of quality dependant upon manufacturing location and parts being supplied by sub contracted pad manufacturers, and there's little to no way of determining what you're actually getting. If you can definitively tell me where all brembo pads are manufactured, I'll happily have my mind changed and maybe go back to buying them again in the future. For now though I'll remain an ex brembo pad customer. That said, I don't have the same concerns with the discs hence my purchase 2011 Vogue SE Tdv8 FFRR

A Trap

Brembo do license their pads... have a look at brembo pads next time, on the back it might say Jurid or Pagid etc who made them under license but still have the brembo brand and markings as well as their own, some are just branded Brembo.. I have seen both.

I've never seen that and I've been fitting Brembo pads to my vehicles (2 RR's and an Audi) for over 5 years. So probably at least 10 sets in that time.

I've seen posts on here stating that Euro Car Parts sell dodgy Brembo knock off's - but I simply can't believe that's the case from such a large distributer / seller. I've never had any issues with Brembo pads wherever I've bought them from.

I'd be wary of anything bought off Ebay though.

A Trap

The rear brembo pads that came off my ff a couple of months ago had brembo written all over them and the brembo symbol but also had another manufacturer written in a smaller font along with part numbers etc on the back, I have seen this on other cars fitted with Brembo replacement pads (not in Brembo own make calipers)
