Almost about to pull the trigger on a 17 Vougue se, can anyone comment on long driving and Footwell space? I need to streach my left leg between the rest and the brake pedal is there plenty of room I had to sell my D5 as there was not space todo that and go back to a D4

i seem to recall someone here took the foot rest out to get more foot/leg room..

At 6'3" and 34" inseam I've been comfortable, for journeys up to maybe 3 -4 hours, that due to where I've been driving, getting fuel etc rather than fatigue. If you're OK with a 322 you should be no worse with a 405.

Incidentally on MY17 you can move the seat base forward independently of the back so giving more support to longer legs, especially if the front of the seat base is raised and the back tilted to match.

Best thing is extended test drive to make sure you are comfortable. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Im 6'3" and find my 405 as perfectly comfortable as my 322's as far as legroom goes... As mentioned above, my AB seats allow the base to extend for longer legs which i love...

The neat trick is to remove the panel under the dash, but above the pedals.

The panel is completely invisible to anyone sitting in the car, you need to put your head in the footwell to see it.

With it removed, it means that it’s possible to put your heal half way up the foot rest and have a completely straight leg, with some room to spare.

I was the one who was investigating removing the foot rest on behalf of a friend, who is interested in buying one, but he’s 6’7” and leg room is critical! He has a D4, which suits him well. He’s tried the D5 and it’s no good for him.

Unfortunately, it’s a very major job to remove the footrest, if it’s possible at all.

I left the inspection panel off when I’d been investigating it; I had to drive somewhere at short notice and found (completely by accident!) that I’d fixed the problem by leaving the useless panel in the garage

Nice tip, if I go for one then will give it a try, decisions, decisions love my XXV but it's starting to get older now...

I own both 405 & a 15MY D4, both have a very different seating position! I'm very comfy in both but would always take the RR over the D4! That said, if I've had a period of time not driving the Disco (wife's usual ride) i always think "what a bloody nice car" every time i do...

My wife doesn't like driving the RR too much as its considerably wider (and probably because its mine )

And the Disco always tends to gets used for all the less nice stuff too... Kids football, parking in dodgier areas etc etc

Thanks my initial test drive was all good, and I had no issues in my L322, so wanted to get other views as it was only in 3+ hour drives the D5 was an issue..

I’m bigger than the average bear, whilst not so much taller at 6’2” . I’m wider in the beam so legs need room.
Size 11 feet doesn’t help, so will check out RM’s comment about removal of panel :

The 405 is way ahead of the 322 in my book.

Every couple of months I drive for 7-8 hours with breaks... it’s the traffic and concentration required which is the most demanding Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc
