Buzzing noise from instrument display!

This has only happened once........

Ignition-on and I got an electrical buzzing noise (almost like the PDC but not so high pitched) which emanated from my instrument binnacle. Started the car and the noise slowly reduced in volume until it was silent. Confused

Anybody got any thoughts other than a hibernating bee in the dash? Wink The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

Sometimes my Front PDC does something similar to that. It goes bip bip, then turns into a long Bhueeeeeeeeeeee that drops in volume until it stops. At that point the front PDC is unoperational until i restart the car.

It happens maybe twice a year, so I never worried about it....

JMC,
I've had similar 3 times in 3 months. Sounds like an electric razor behind the instrument panel when ignition is first turned on, but much much louder and gradually fades out over about 30 seconds. First time it happened I thought it was a warning buzzer and got the fright of my life.

I have a good dealer and they've investigated but as yet have no idea what it might be.... Neither do I.

I also experienced this awful noise today as I pulled up at the office. I'm sure its related to the front PDC, as it was a constant beeb as I approached the car in front, then it changed to electric razor din. Very glad I came across this thread to put my mind at rest.

As mentioned above switching the ignition off and on had no effect, but thankfully it stopped after about 30 seconds.

Cheers
