Scotland 2014 Range Rover Vogue SDV6 Santorini Black
Painting Calipers - L405 TRW

4 to 5 hours of my life that's not coming back.

Painted the front 2 calipers today with Hammerite Satin Black ('smooth' finish).

Not now sure Black was the colour to go for. Perhaps should have painted them silver... or left them alone!

One of those jobs I wanted to do for ages. The moment of starting thought... 'Pointless waste of time!' Embarassed

Wheel off and newly painted:

Looking good Ryan...

Just be aware that if you change your mind and want to change the colour, you can't overpaint hammerite with any other paint else it will react and go like that crackle glaze Laurence Lewellyn Bowen used to paint fireplaces with on Changing Rooms! Shocked

Be bold!

Recently done a pile of work to the wife’s Sport, and she chose this colour... It may look a bit much there, but it’s much more subtle with the car in 1 piece Laughing

Can’t say I was thrilled with Bubblegum Pink, but it was certainly a talking point when customers came in and saw it Laughing

Also, having previously had a RR with massive Brembo 6 pot calipers, I thought the TRW calipers would be a tidgy little 5 minute job to clean with brake cleaner and paint... wrong!

The TRW calipers are big units with lots (lots) of annoying nooks and crannies that do not make painting these calipers in situ a few minutes of a job at all (Brembos might have been easier because they are more curvy) Rolling Eyes

Ah well Thumbs Up
