I'm by no means an expert on this model or year, perhaps search here for ignition barrel failure........ Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

My money would be on the ignition barrel, I’ve changed one myself and know of others from 07 that have needed it. It isn’t ruinously expensive and isn’t too hard to change. |

So, the garage is still working it out, so i have asked for and will receive a refund for the car!

Your call on a refund but if it is the ignition switch it's a known fault and when fixed its sorted. Another of similar age may well be the same 6 months down the line and then you will be picking up the tab.
