AAAAAARRRRRRgggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

P Censored d off!!! You know how it is when you're really looking forward to picking up a car?

Well first off, the car wasn't ready by Friday, so had to wait over the weekend, not ready yesterday, but 90% there, guaranteed ready for today.

Well today comes, car nearly ready, car nearly ready, car not ready, need another part, on a bike, car nearly ready car nearly ready...

Money not received.

Check with bank, having transferred the money yesterday, didn't read the small print and apparently for larger amounts, they choose to steal your money for a few days, so they can take the interest. So now car is finally ready, but I can't pick it up, unless I pay for it again, then wait for dealer to refund duplicate payment!

Does anybody have an AK47/ Kalashnikov (sorry no SA 80's need apply, couldn't handle more frustration) feel a trip to the bank coming on! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Why didn't you tell me yesterday! Wink

Hindsight is wonderful innit!

Haven't paid this amount for a car before! Embarassed

Anyway, lesson learned! Big Cry

What do I do tomorrow, go and pay again and wait for the refund?

BTW, this forum is very busy: posted this, went and read a post, and in that time it'd had five views and no replies, clicked on it by mistake, and in that time Gary had replied! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

If you paid Via BACS or Online Banking it could take 3-4 days to hit their account.

CHAPS is guaranteed by end of day if set up before 3.30pm. However in practise it only takes about 20 minutes to hit a one of the major banks.

If you trust LR to give you the money back (by CHAPS when they get it) then you could buy it again tomorrow but is it worth the hassle and potential £50 if you pay the LR fee.... Question

Gary

Yes, without doubt, except it's not LR, it's an independent dealer. I trust him for the money though, however it bugs me that I have to pay my part twice, plus give my p/x, because he won't trust me for the cash which has already left my account.

However he deals in exotica for up to £120k, so I really don't think he'd be interested in diddling me. Plus he's happy to wait for the money to come in, it's just me who's impatient! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

So what method of payment did you use the first time? Bank transfer? When I bought mine I paid deposit first to hold car then paid the balance a week later on collection with my debit card. No waiting took car that day.

Cheers

Bank transfer for deposit, bank transfer for balance.

Second transfer taking it's time, that's the problem.

I completely understand your pain!

For what it's worth, you can use a debit card quite easily to make large payments. There is no transaction limit per se, the only limit is that the funds have to be available in your current account. Sometimes your bank may place a daily limit on the card for security purposes but you can ask them to temporarily lift the restriction. MY2011 FFRR 4.4 TDV8 Vogue, Santorini Black and Ivory *Arrived*

Debit card is the way to go. Walk into the dealer, flash the card, drive away.
