How to transfer ownership of a cherished registration?

I'm in the process of selling a "cherished" number plate to a new owner, not from one car to another. I have the plate on retention at the moment. Have searched the DVLA website but all they have is the recommendation to use a company specialising in number plate sales! Can anybody help with advice on how to transfer ownership of the entitlement please.

FYI The owner of my last RRS wants to re-unite it with the FA57 RRS plate I had it on and I have that plate on retention. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Have you looked at the retention certificate? 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

I think it's recently changed, but I sold one that was on a retention certificate and I'm sure there's a section called "change of grantee" which is the person that has the right to assign it to his/her car.

Best to check with DVLA though. I was in the office in Glasgow yesterday putting my number back onto retention pending my new motor (assuming I can find one!) and it's a minefield of buerocracy!

Tim,

I can look after this for you. Find out from the new owner (our customer!) what the first line on his V5 is Mr XXX XXXXX etc. Then pay £25 to add that exact name as the Nominee on your retention certifficate. You can enther send it off to DVLA to be updated and then post to the new owner once you recieve the new one or in my experience the new owner could present the signed retention cert with a cheque for £25 and their details as nominee and transfer and change nominee in on go. You would need to sign the cert as the purchaser though.

Let me know if I can help.
