The Captain on the other leg from me on my last ship last year did Cairo/Dubai/Singapore/Auckland/Wellington, opened the door to a ringing phone instructing him to be on the next flight back to Europe for a debriefing after an "incident" that the ship had had, in Hamburg HO. He arrived in hamburg in time for a day's work and was then on a flight back to NZ that night.
Somebody in Hamburg had forgotten to tell him while he was in the office that on the following Monday he was attend a 2 day training course in Rotterdam which meant another 1 day at home in Wellington before setting out for Europe again. He complained that it was unreasonable but the HRM Manager told him that they realised there had been a cock-up and he was flying first class on Singapore Airlines Wellington/Singapore and then First on the A380 from Singapore to London and the same for the return trip................ on the proceeds of all the airmiles/ travel points he was able to book a first class return flight from NZ to Fiji for a nice holiday a week after he got home! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes
