Order times on new SDV8 question

I have a meeting scheduled with my dealer on Thursday that may turn into an order for a replacement SDV8 AB.

In case that's the outcome, please would those with recent experience let me know?:

1. What the going rate is for a lead time for a build to order and...

2. If specifying one of the special colours (British Racing Green) causes a delay.

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up

Yes, if you order the BRG you will have a delay as it is from their Special Pallette and has to go to the SVA at Oxford Road.

Mine was delayed back in March by 3 weeks...don't know why really. but that's what the dealer said was causing the delay on my delivery. Worth the wait though Red Merle!!!....

That really is my perfect choice of colour Thumbs Up

So, do I understand correctly, the colour added 3 weeks to the overall order time? If so, how long was it in total please?

I ordered it in November 2017 and took delivery virtually 6 months to the day after. It was delayed by over a month due to a poor salesman (not chasing LR) and the colour delay. I was quoted 4.5 months when I ordered so it could be registered as 18 plate.

It looks very different in that light! Still looks good Thumbs Up

You’ve made my mind up though, I’d choose colour keyed gills and hockey sticks.

Yes, I thought about hockey sticks but I don't think you can get them now on their own, you have to have gills as well and I didn't want them. One more thing to get mud in across the fields!

mud and fields i am off for a lie down,
I ordered my replacement 31-07-18 and i still have a delivery date of Oct 12th. I think this was a stock order that was altered to my spec though, so this maybe slightly distorted against current delivery date.

Thanks SR.
What do you wind up using while they’re building the next one? Do you carry on using the current one?

Lookers in Kings Langley have quite a nice looking demo 17 with 6000 miles for £80,000 on LRAU, which could maybe tide you over?

What about a nice simple 5.0SC given your bad experience with the diesel? Only Range Rovers since 1988

Ironic all this talk of months-long lead times for delivery the day after JLR announced a three day week (yes, I know at a different plant).

Very retro and 1970s the more I think about it... 2016 SDV8 AB

Very nice, Aintree Green Thumbs Up

Yes, I’d love a 5.0 V8 S/C, but the man maths wont stretch to the mpg at over 30,000 miles a year! Wink I’m surprised how much more they are to buy as well.

These plants are purely pressing and assembly plants, with no stock to draw from. They need to order all the necessary sub assembles, which need to be manufactured and assembled and then delivered to a prearranged build slot. Unfortunately, even when it’s quiet, this process still takes time Sad
