305-40-22” AT / Off Road Tyres L405

For those of us that need an Off Road Tyre, 305/40/22 do fit an L405.

Tyres in question are old stock Cooper LTZ fitted to a new SV Autobiography. The only slight issue is the LTZ have been superceeded by the Cooper AT and are no longer available.

Piccies in access mode:-

Agreed there Trommel, plus the offset is too much and makes the RR look rather odd. Not my vehicle I hasten to add - far too Carlos Fandango 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Tyres on 22" wheels have been known to burst off road, not least in the making of the James May TG film when the 405 was introduced, but I've also heard of it happening elsewhere.

A better option might be to get 20" 405 wheels and fit Goodyear Duratrac 255/55R20 (that is what I will be doing later this month). These are however only rated to 99mph, adequate for me, and Duratracs in 255/55R19 were fine on my last 322 over several winters. The Duratrac is also the tyre used by LR as the standard fitment on the Discovery SVX, albeit in 275/55R20. For those wishing a higher speed rating with a slightly less open tread there is the General Grabber AT3 255/55R20. I've not tried it.

I think there was a thread on here a while ago about inner sidewall cracking on Zeon LTZs, that might be worth checking for anyone planning to use them. Only Range Rovers since 1988

I've used 305 40 22 LTZ's on my bobtail for 6+ years now (mostly off road) without any issues Thumbs Up

Granted i drive it in a fashion as to not damage the car but i guess anyone fitting these to a 405 would take the greatest of care too... Whistle

@verydisco - sorry I don’t have any other pics, plus even if I had more pics I don’t feel comfortable putting up pics which would / could identify the vehicle Thumbs Up 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I have General Grabber AT3's on 20" rims.

The front wheels are very close to the wheelarch liners when the wheel is turning left & right, but they have never hit it.

I wouldn't go for anything with a larger overall diameter.
