Heads up! Security

Hi
Now this isn't RR related but just a heads up. 3weeks ago my BMW 5 Series was opened and my steering wheel and Satnav system was stolen. It's left my insurance with a £10k+ bill to repair. My car wasn't keyless entry but I've been told most come with it but not enabled. I know the newer RR have the keyless entry.
I have a nice video of the Censored taking all my bits. Took him a total of 13mins to strip it all and he wasn't heavy handed. Worked methodically removing screws etc.
I've put it here as supposedly if I had my keys stored in a Faraday bag or something it would have prevented this. Just a heads up to remind people what little Censored are out there and what they will and can do and simple £5 pouch's etc could prevent your RR being targeted.

Commiserations my friend there are some scum bags out there.

I read recently that the thing that’s being targeted now by the thieves is steering wheels, and I realise that it makes no difference to your BMW now but the best thing I’ve found is to use the good old fashioned steering wheel clamp/lock. ______________________________

I recall collecting my car from LR after some warranty work in a not too dissimilar condition. Whistle

Hard lines on this violation. It’s unbelievable how they ripped it out so quickly. I hope a replacement can be fitted as easily, I.e. that it will be visually seamless and reliable in operation. It’s not the sort of component you’d normally tinker with.

terrible Censored Censored

Hope your insurance covers it and won't sting you later.

I've read elsewhere about BMW steering wheels being a taken. They must be worth a bit S/H but unsure exactly why.

. Cheers, Greg

The wheels can be mega expensive, close on a grand for M ones, sat nav displays too! Keep my 6 series keys in a faraday pouch ( unless the wife forgets)
