thats a good find dan...wouldn't be great if we only had one button on the remote, press once for unlock, press again for lock...looking at those pics i think i might 'cut' the tail gate unlock circuit as i dont use that anyway...

I never used to rate the tailgate button - however on this rr I have "lock on drive off" which means I'm always going to the boot to find it locked.

I s'pose I could just unlock the whole car, but the locks will probably wear out!

2003 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Java Black

Just been doing some searching. Im thinking take apart orig key ( just unscerwd mine and all comes out easily). Take out inside bits and put in new key. So need to find a key with same button positioning. Found this;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...K:MEWAX:IT

the buttons are in same place so would all work although looks a biy cheap!

I like this one. Clearly prise of cheap badge but would have 3 button function and symbols could work and looks better IMO

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...K:MEWAX:IT

or just ditch boot function as nevr see the point anyway and go for 2 button. Should be easy enough just by cutting connection between inside fob.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...K:MEWAX:IT

Or if your going down bm route i personally think this one better looking;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...K:MEWAX:IT

although i don't get how transferable as rr key 1 and 2 buttons side by side where as bm key old and converted 3 in line.

Can't decide which one but going to order a shell and see what happens. Battery won't be issue as will use orig.

Bear in mind that presenting a Vauxhall, BMW or any other key other than ORIGINAL at point of sale will almost certainly end any deal that has been done.....

People want original car, original equipment and original paperwork when buying expensive second-hand cars....

Nick,

The last BMW key you linked to there is not a flip key. That is the key that slots into the BMW dash. It does have an emergency key inside it however but you have to pull it out. So is no good i'm afraid.

It is a BMW key to start with don't forget - circa 1991! But I see where you're coming from.

I think if done propperly it will be OK, obviously not glued together etc. It would have to feel nice and solid, as good as original.

Gazellio- agree generallly, but with my 2010 conversion think most buyers would be ok with it.

Dan -didn't notice that but wasn't really considering it anyway as key is in line 3 buttons and i think for easy conversion it would need to be a key with one above and two below, if you know what i mean!

Won't the pre-cut key blade be different?

Key blade comes uncut. With the BMW diamond key how will you get over the fact on the RR key 2 buttons are side by side and one above, when on the bmw the 3 buttons are in line?

Yes I know that I said "Pre-cut blade" what I meant was that if it is a Vauxhall rather than a Land Rover key fob the dimensions of the uncut metal blade will surely be different. Confused
