L322 4.4TDV8 Front Brake Pad Replacement

Is it straight forward job to replace the front pads on a 2012MY 4.4TDV8? I've replaced plenty of other models, including range Rovers and Land Rovers in the past but not the 6 pot callipers before.

Other than the overflowing brake fluid reservoir when pushing the pistons back in, is there any tricky element involved?

Many thanks.

If just doing the pads, super easy. I followed wiki and will be doing my disc and pads all round when the rain stops long enough on a weekend.

As others have said it’s not difficult provided the retaining pins aren’t seized.
I would suggest planning on putting new pins in.

Thanks for all of your replies. The job is very straight forward, but made a great deal easier when starting forewarned about the pins.

The pads had travelled 52000 miles and were pretty thin, however the warning light had not illuminated. The sensor appears to be in good shape.

It is 18months since my front discs and pads were changed.
Today I intended to replace the pads, but found them to be still only half worn.
I did however remove all the pins and centre bolt to clean them and apply a smear of grease.
The bottom pins on both sides were pretty well stuck and took a bit of persuasion to drift out.
I am convinced that if the pins are left in situ for the full life of the pads they will be virtually seized in.
It only took me half an hour to do both sides and I recommend not leaving them in-situ any longer than 18 months.
