Zf gearbox question..

I had a huge issue last night. Replaced oil cooler and the collet connection failed whilst driving. As soon as car slowed and went into transmission failsafe I shut her down . Then noticed the detachment of said collet and was able to follow the trail of Transmission fluid for a good 300 yards..my concern is I’ve killed my gearbox. High chance of it?

you may be lucky , get it topped up with the right fluid and give it a go , no point worrying until you try it.

when I rebuilt the front end on mine , the connectors to those coolers were a bit of a worry to me as I had issues removing them and suspected they may pop off , used stainless steel safety wire to tie the connections in place , quick back up for peace of mind

Thats actually a very good idea. Mines was mega flushed in December and the oil cooler changed a few weeks ago. The collet has basically fallen to bits. This was using the correct tool to disconnect it.. ordered new pipes and oil . Will change box filter as well just so I can check magnets

I had some fall to bits on my old V8 petrol. So I rang landrover to order some more connectors. Can't came back the reply, you have to buy the whole pipe ( both on my car ). How utterly pathetic.
