Thermostat housing removal

Looks like my thermostat housing is leaking a little, so I’m researching the job.

I’ve read a few threads (including Edfors EGR removal thread) but I’m a little confused about if the EGRs actually need to be removed to access the thermostat housing.

I’m guessing they don’t, but there’s a couple of conflicting threads.

Could someone confirm either way please?

If you want to change the whole housing, it's easier with the EGRs out of the way. (and everything else in the vicinity as it might take a bit of prising. __
