2010 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

25 years ago who would have thought that there would be big heavy SUV's capable of putting up a decent showing on the race track! VW/RR or whatever, just shows how things have moved on, nobody would have dreamt about taking the original RRC or Vogue around without serious modifications to the suspension to stop it rolling over on high speed bends! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

The RRC Schuler in 1981 would out-corner a golf and had a very reasonable top speed - along with ABS and Traction Control.

In the late 80's early 90's the Diesel RR won some 24hr endurance race.

And any off road racer worth their salt was based on RR running gear in the 80's-90's.

It's actually very difficult to get a RRC to roll - The only way infact is to use full left to right lock whilst braking (as 5th gear demonstrated), even this was resolved in 89 with the introduction of Anti-Roll bars.

It may be hard to roll, but it is VERY easy to get it to slide! *Gone* Discovery3 HSE

Definitely - especially the pre-limited slip diff (89) as they could get a little tail happy.

A friend and I once haired around in a friend, him in his 89 and me in my 87. Mine could do doughnuts and drifts etc. His just went exactly where pointed. All very boring, but a little more predictable when needed!

When trialling with the AWDC I could often get round the course where even the suzuki's failed because you can flick the back end out on really tight turns etc.

Difficult to roll a Range Rover Classic? You must be joking!
I did roll a Range Rover Vogue back in 1990 and it nearly killed me.
If driven really hard they do roll believe me!

My neighbour (whom I don't like) had this little Japanese 4x4 and he used to drive it around, with his mother-in-law in the back (with whom he lives), and with a 'I'm the king of the road' smug look on his stupid, scrotum ugly face.

One of the delights of having a RR was I could look at him with a 'you're smaller and balder than me and you have a tiny little $hit 4x4'.

2 months later, this was obviously too much for him and he bought a Tourag to ferry around his heinously ugly wife and bitch of a mother-in-law.

But I'm thinking, you still have a $hit 4x4, but now it's also expensive to run. And you're still smaller and balder than me! Laughing
