iPod connection - “Device error”

I’d be grateful for any pointers on the following:

So... trying to connect a Bluetooth receiver onto the iPod connection in the 2010 4.4 Tdv8... and no matter what I do (and I’ve tried different cables in case of faults, and tried different receivers) I only get the following error:

I’ve been through all the posts here on the iPod connector, including the long write up about the tune2air/bovee 1000

In terms of receivers I’ve tried a couple of Bovee1000 units, in case I had a one-off fault, in addition to a couple of other models of 30pin Bluetooth receivers from amazon. But only ever the above error message.
Is there anywhere else I ought to go looking for the source of the problem?

Thanks for any suggestions!!! -- .. -.- .

Are you using the land rover cable to connect to the car?

Yes.
I’ve tried an original LR cable. (And also several different models of other-brand cables). -- .. -.- .

I've just bought a Bovee 1000 for my 2011 L322. I had the same issue as the OP - device error and Spotify playing a split second of a song before pausing. Thankfully the remedy is very simple - your iphone hasn't got any music loaded to it, so isn't recognised. Download 1 song from itunes (a whole 59p!) and your Bovee will work faultlessly - all info displayed on the screen, steering wheel controls still work and even Waze coming through the speakers. I don't bother with the factory fitted navigation since downloading Waze as it's a million times better with real time traffic, speed cameras etc. It also runs Spotify through the app, so all my needs are catered for.

With the bovee how does everything come on the cars screen? I have a 2006 with the touch screen can I get the bovee working on the screen? I’ve done a search but can’t find anything conclusive

Can only speak for 2010-2012... but on mine all the steering wheel functions work, I can skip tracks etc.

On the screen itself it has the name of the artist and song tittle.

My phone connects straight away as soon as I get in.

Volume and sound quality is amazing.

I did try an iPod 30pin to lightening adapter and it didn’t work. Bovee is fantastic if your model has an iPod interface then I would assume it will work the same, if you don’t have an iPod interface, do you have aux input ?

Yes and finally my Bovee is working after 3 years:-) I was just thinking about the worst product that I bought last years but OK, now everything works perfect. I had the same Device Error message and 2 seconds preview. Just play 1 song in Apple Music.... Thanks @MAF260

Also with an Iphone you can navigate your music on the car's touch screen which can't be done on Android although to be honest it's easier to do it directly on the phone itself. Still trying to work out how to stop autoplay every time the phone connects. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
