I doubt very much you'll need it - we've been towing with Range Rovers for over 10 years now and have never had a problem with the gearbox overheating. As long as nothing is clogged (sludge in radiator bottom) you should have no problems.

The 4.4 V8 is a brilliant towcar and my 2004 has 196k on the clock - a lot of it towing. I also wouldn't personally worry about an auxiliary cooler - as Stu says, you'll need the money for a load of preventative maintenance

Good advise above, I would add fitting a lower temp cooling stat. This will bring down running temp of both engine and gearbox. No7 - 2003 V8 Vogue |

This one only for the gearbox. Use anything else and you will have trouble.

You may as well change the filter for a new one if you are going to the expense of changing the fluid, I think the genuine one is a filtrans |

Make sure it’s a genuine or OEM.
