my European road trip of 4000km in my 2007 VSE was trouble free until the day I needed to get the ferry home. A flat battery.

Followed by a week full of woes that were RR generated. I'll put one other post up about the sat nav/tmc to see if anyone has any clues on that.

Right now though the key fob I was always using refuses to open boot or doors. I have tried the recode procedure that is all over the web. I.e. turn to 1, hold unlock and press lock three times etc etc. I've tried it a dozen times or so but no success. I then tried my other key fob and bingo that works fine. Is that coding process specific to a range of years, and do the 2007s have a different process to code the keys ?

Any ideas?

Ok. After days of trying I then decided to try using the one working key first in the locks, I was then able after several attempts on the non-working key to get it coded in. The previously working key no longer works and I was unable within a dozen or more attempts to get that one working again. So, key swap again.

Having spent most of the last four days on electrical issues I decided to call it a day and give up again.

However, I can report that yes this process does work on a 2007 tdv8.

FWIW, I also think it is a dreadfully inconsistent and clumsy process. As far as I could tell the only time it worked was when I just tried pushing the buttons almost randomly, a bit like how I used to play street fighter two when I was a kid.

I'm new to this, so don't hold me to it but I read somewhere that any additional keys have to be coded within 25 or 30 seconds of the first one otherwise, after this time period elapses, the latest coded key takes over to the detriment of any earlier key.

My goddaughter just bought a 2007 TDV8 with one of her two keys only able to start the engine. When I see her next, I plan to use the procedure below, which I have cribbed from somewhere, to hopefully get the 'faulty' key to open the doors:

To do this procedure you need to have one working key and one key that
needs to be programmed.

1) Get in and close all doors.
2) Turn on the ignition and turn off quickly. (No more than 5 seconds)
to start the process. Next action must take place within 30 seconds.
3) Remove the 1st key.
4) Hold the key up near your left shoulder (this is so it is closer to
the remote receiver antenna.
5) Hold down the unlock button and press the lock button 3 times.
Release the unlock button and the doors lock which confirms the operation.
6) Quickly repeat steps 4 & 5 for key #2 etc. (ie within 25 seconds)
Turn ignition on and off to finalise

I take away from this that I will be programming the 'faulty' key and then have to re-program the good key immediately afterwards. The spare key seems only lightly used, so I am hoping there is not another reason it doesn't function.
