The quote for a new engine my son's A-class 2.2 diesel was £12,000.

Not casting aspersions but my first thought was, didn't JLR have an artic or two full of engines stolen last year?

Alternatively, it might possibly be a genuine bargain. Having been scammed on eBay recently (for the shocking amount of £9 something ), I’d suggest caution mightn’t be a bad idea!

If it is genuinely being sold by Supacat Ltd. in Devon, then I assume it's a genuine article - they make various vehicles for the military, including some based on LR parts I think, so quite possibly something they bought and never used.

It might go to show the mark-up/profit on spares prices for those companies that have trade access to the factory. Perhaps they are just selling it at cost!
