Hi guys and girls, i need help and guidance please, i wanted to upgrade the firmware for my nav system, after many attempts i managed to burn a disc with the V32 update for RR, the unmodifiedversion available from Bimmerfest, loaded the disc and the update started, this is where problems started. The program ran and then noted there were faults on the disc and to remove it, this i did and replaced the map disc. The screen seemed to reboot and appeared but blue in colour, i thought as itwas supposedto include night visability it was ok. Turned settings to locate navigation and there was none,???went to the back and the nav.unit was off?? Everything else is working, radio cd, etc, didthebattery disconnect, nothing, anything else i can try? Oh yesandnowi can change the colours of the screen

Just as an update, there is still power at the nav unit in the back as i noticed there is a light on the eject button but the little red power light is off. I notice some have read my post but no answers yet, come on guys youcan do better i am sure

Can't help directly as I have the mk4 unit.

Is anything on here any use ?

Thanks for the link, i have searched through most already, having nothing to do and reading up on all those easy updates is what got me in the situation i am in any one else??

Apologies if you've already tried this but are the connections at the back of the satnav drive fully seated? I've had a problem in the past where the drive had power etc but no feed and it turned out one of the connectors was ever so slightly loose.

Might be worth trying to burn a new disc and see if that helps. They are fairly problematic though if they don't update first time though.

There is a guy on UK Ebay who fixes the Mk3 and Mk4 satnav units - might be worth dropping him an email to see if he can help you remotely first? I used him when my update for a Mk4 failed. Current Fleet:-

Just to add to this, I remember being told the Mk3 units will lock themselves if the firmware update isn't applied absolutely correctly - i.e. format, mode etc.

I think it can be unlocked if you burn another disc with the firmware on it again - might be worth checking on the BMW forums for the settings for burning the disc Current Fleet:-

I will have to get the disc out first, but a problem i see is there is power to the unit but it is not booting up, will keep trying, at least i now have something to do

Sounds like firmware is locked if you have power.

On the front of the drive there is a little pin hole - if you push a pin into it that is the manual eject release - should allow you to get the disc out Current Fleet:-

Actually forget that - not sure there is a manual release on the satnav drives.

If you press and hold the eject button and listen to hear the disc - when it stops making a noise release and press again, should eject the disc. May have to hold for a while Current Fleet:-

1 step at a time got the disc out. Still no power on the power light, but the light on the eject butten flashes regularly at one minute intervals, as you say a firmware problem, so ifi can find something on the bmw sites that i can access, a lot of the links provided for firmware updates seem to be dodgy as my browser wont give me access

WhooWhoo success, i love my Landy and i hurt when something goes wrong, but i rejoyce when it is fixed, so now its a glass of red and then off to bed, thanks for the help.
