2004 Vogue Glovebox Latch question

Hi the glovebox lid on my car recently broke so I decided to get a replacement and exchange it. When taking the old one out I had to remove the wire from the latch and a spring popped out but now I'm not sure where it goes so I was hoping someone might know where to fit it. I've added a couple of photos of the latch and I've put the spring where I think it should go - this is before I attach the latch wire back onto it. Can anyone tell me if this is the correct location?

Also I lost the original Spring so found a similar sized one from a biro pen as a replacement, does anyone know from previous experience if thay will be ok or cause problems?

Weegie had this problem on his previous Fatty and he helpfully wrote up how he resolved the issue:

Unfortunately the photo has since gone. Maybe if you PM him he'll be able to give you more info?

It's "bébéchoon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums.
20 years ownership of Solihull products, ALL GONE NOW, sniff!
Current motor: Suzuki S-Cross 4WD auto, 1.4 petrol. Oh so reliable! 7 years now and no problems. Oh, all right then, a leaking shocker replaced under guarantee.

Found the photo:

Just wound the spring onto the cable in that position. No fiddling to get it into place and works perfectly well. Thumbs Up John

Thanks for that, winding the spring onto the cable does sound like it will be easier than trying to fiddle it into the slot under the cable 2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 v8 LPG, Java Black, 22' Hawke Alloys, Black Beast
