Had something similar, there are grub screws in the hub that deteriorate over time, thus causing the handbrake mechanism to detach and flail about in the hub, easy fix, just a wee bit of time.. |

After today I just had the same thing on drivers rear, making very loud noise on drive home. got out felt the wheels the right rear was very hot compared to all others. jacked up and took wheel off. found the clip holding the shoe to the back had come off the spring and clip was jammed between the disc and the disc cover. this resulted in the rear most shoe biting the drum and constantly rubbing. I've now just had to strip out the shoes and run it without a handbrake until my new clips turn up. |

Hey I think I have this too. Should get to pull off the wheel tomorrow. Does this sound come and go? Sounds like worn pads against disc/drum without a change using brakes. Then if I hit a bump just right it disappears for days to weeks. |

The offender. The shoe center retainer. The back plate is rusted at the hole. Such a noise for a little piece. So now to hunt down back plates.
